Director - Fisheries Development Division

This is a full time position based in Honiara, Solomon Islands. Appointment to this position is made on a three year term and may be renewed depending on performance, funding availability and ongoing need for the position.
About the Position
Reporting to the Director-General through the Deputy Director-General, this is an executive leadership position providing advice and support to FFA members in the development of their offshore fisheries. Leading a team of up to 14 staff, the Director Fisheries Development will lead and supervise the work of the Fisheries Development Division relating to-:
- Fisheries development planning;
- Economic analysis and intelligence
- Market access and trade; and
- Investment evaluation and facilitation
To be successful in this role:
To be considered for this position you will have tertiary qualifications in Fisheries, Economics, Resource Management or related field and significant progressive experience in fisheries development, economics, investment, commercial fishing operational maangement or similar, with at least 5 years' experience as a senior manager.
Experience working in the Pacific regional and/or within an Intergovernmental Organisations (IGO) or similar public institutions (University facilities, etc.) will be an advantage. The proven ability to develop high-level economic policies and provide quality analysis and reporting to a broad range of stakeholders will be key in this role. You will be an innovative and influential leader who can provide high-level strategic direction to the organisation; promote positive change and reform within the region; and advocate and negotiate effectively with donors, FFC and member delegations.
