FFA continues to monitor fishing amidst COVID19 situation

HONIARA, 22 May 2020: As Pacific nations face the threat of coronavirus to their health and economic growth, the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) has taken action to continue to monitor and control fishing of the world’s largest tuna stocks.

Applications invited for Scholarships in Certificate IV Fisheries Enforcement and Compliance 2020

FFA invites applications for scholarships to the USP Pacific TAFE Certificate IV Fisheries Enforcement and Compliance (CEFC4) course, due to commence in July 2020. The CEFC4 is a 12-month online study programme, with a competency-based assessment. The Training provides students with an introduction to fisheries management and monitoring, control and surveillance. Applications are welcome for those working in an area involved in the boarding and inspection of fishing vessels. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply through their national administration in FFA Member countries.

A landmark Forum Fisheries Agency resolution on climate change has been adopted by the 16th annual meeting of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission, creating a platform for a more urgent response to global warming by the world’s largest tuna fisheries organisation.
