Enjoy this dynamic opportunity as a Legal Advisor (Prosecution) at the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), where you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to enforce fisheries laws effectively. Reporting directly to the Legal Counsel, you will focus on the strategic legal management of fisheries prosecutions, ensuring compliance with international law and supporting member states in legal matters related to fisheries offences.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialized legal advice on the prosecution of fisheries offences
  • Assisting FFA members in enhancing their legal frameworks for fisheries law enforcement
  • Conducting legal research and analysis to support fisheries management and conservation efforts
  • Developing and delivering training programs on legal aspects of fisheries enforcement
  • Collaborating with regional and international partners to strengthen fisheries law enforcement mechanisms
  • Leading initiatives to improve legal policies and procedures related to fisheries prosecution

What you bring to the team

We are looking for a Legal Advisor (Prosecution) with a Bachelor of Laws and postgraduate qualifications in international lawinternational fisheries law, or marine affairs.

You should have at least 5 years of relevant experience, including expertise in the prosecution of fisheries or related offences.

Your knowledge should encompass international fisheries law and the Law of the Sea, with a strong background in policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a dedication to sustainable fisheries management are essential. Your commitment to our mission and professionalism will be highly valued.

For your work and effort as our Legal Advisor (Prosecution), you will receive a competitive salary package of circa US$82,532 (tax-free, for citizens of most countries), negotiable to earn more based on your skills and experience.
