Regional Longline Strategy
Vision: A profitable, compliant and sustainable longline fishery working efficiently in and around Pacific Island waters for the primary benefit of Pacific Island economies.
Scope: Longline fisheries in Western and Central Pacific tropical and subtropical waters between 20°N and 30°S excluding fisheries whose primary income is from Pacific tuna.
Goal 1: To enable FFA members to be meaningful participants in the region’s longline fisheries through the application of zone-based management approaches;
Goal 2: To improve the economic returns to Pacific Islands’ economies from a sustainable regional longline fishery, and to measure and report on progress.
