FFA extends condolences on passing of Tuvalu Deputy Prime Minister

The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) extends its deepest condolences and expresses its profound grief following the untimely passing of the Minister of Fisheries and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Tuvalu, Honourable Minute Alapati Taupo.

“Late Honourable Taupo was a great Pacific Statesman and was deeply committed to the people of Tuvalu and passionate about fisheries and addressing climate change.

For over two decades he served admirably in the governance of natural resources, land and the environment in Tuvalu.

We recognised his important contribution to fisheries and to the Pacific at our annual meeting of FFA fisheries officials that started this week. We will also observe a minute silence at the start of our Special Ministers meeting next week in Nadi.

Our heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the late Hon. Taupo’s family and the people and Government of Tuvalu. He will be greatly missed in our regional fisheries work,” Dr Tupou-Roosen said.
