Vale Mrs Mbwenea Teioki

It is with great regret that Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) shares the news of the untimely passing of Mrs Mbwenea Teioki,  Principal Compliance and Monitoring Officer, Ministry of Fisheries, Republic of Kiribati.

Mbwenea spent her entire career in service to the national Kiribati fisheries sector. Working for the Ministry of Fisheries she held roles encompassing coastal and offshore fisheries. She worked her way up through the ranks and her most recent position was one of the senior positions within the Ministry.

“Mbwenea was well-known in our Pacific fisheries work as a dedicated and passionate advocate foremost for Kiribati’s national interests and also in our collaboration to advance regional priorities.  This is evident through her immense and invaluable contribution to multiple regional and subregional discussions over so many years.  Her love of life and of our fisheries work together will be truly missed,” said FFA Director-General Dr Manu Tupou-Roosen.

The team at FFA is deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague.  Such a loss to Kiribati Fisheries and the region but most importantly to her family.  May Mbwenea rest in God’s Everlasting Peace and Love.
